After completing a first degree in Pure & Applied Mathematics at Cambridge University in 2009, Dr Jake Loftus and went on to do a Phd in computer science at Bristol University. His research focussed on cryptographic applications in cloud computing, specifically, problems relating to secure computation on data held in the cloud.
Jake started his career in IP at a leading firm of patent attorneys based in London and Bath. He completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property at Bournemouth University in 2014. He joined Bryers in 2018 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2019.
Jake’s work has primarily focused on patent prosecution and drafting for software and telecommunications. He also has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in 2D and 3D printing, commercial and financial technologies.
Jake is the first named inventor on US Patent No. 9,306,738 “Managed Secure Computations on Encrypted Data” which relates to secure computations of encrypted data over a network, in relation to which Jake worked whilst at Microsoft Research in the USA.
