Catherine graduated in 2000 with an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leicester and is a Member of the IET.

Catherine started her IP career with a firm of patent and trademark attorneys in Yorkshire, during which time she obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Manchester and qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. Catherine moved to another private practice firm in 2009, which enabled her to broaden her professional experience, before joining Bryers in 2013. Catherine became a partner in 2016.

Throughout her career, Catherine has worked in a variety of technological areas including, manufacturing processes, packaging and product displays, transportation, medical apparatus, construction and safety equipment, lighting and heating systems, household goods and general mechanical engineering.
